Don’t Let Your CBD Send You to the ER!

Don’t Let Your CBD Send You to the ER!

Welcome to The Honest Egg’s first “CBD Safety Series” article.

My goal here is to give you a short and succinct explanation of buying quality CBD. I enjoy reading CBD material for hours, but most of you don’t have that time, so here it is

IN SHORT: Don’t buy your product from Amazon. Don’t buy anything that doesn’t have certifications! And if you are going to vape, be EXTRA careful! Look for batch and lot numbers on your labels. Look for evidence of 3rd party testing. Look for organically grown in the USA (or Western Europe). And your ingredient label should be super short: a carrier oil (MCT or hemp seed are most common) and organic extract for flavoring.

Let’s start by reassuring you how incredibly safe pure CBD is. The World Health Organization says it is “safe and well tolerated in humans (and animals), and is not associated with any negative health effects.” Additionally, and this is very important, it is NOT addictive (i.e. no withdrawal symptoms), and it poses no threat to your major body functions (respiration, blood pressure, heart rate, etc). There is no record of anyone ever overdosing on it, either.

So how did 200+ people end up visiting the ER in Utah, and over 60 soldiers near Fort Bragg get sick enough to need medical care?

The short answer is: They were using SYNTHETIC CBD! And they were VAPING! The synthetic cannabinoids act on the same receptors as naturally-occurring CBD, but have unpredictable and untested results. Vaping anything adds an extra level of risk (more on that in another article).

Additionally, one CBD brand was found to have cough suppressant’s active ingredient added to their CBD. I’ve also heard of one company adding melatonin to their CBD to “help” people get that deeper sleep!

What makes The Honest Egg a trusted choice?

We DO NOT and WILL NOT ever, ever insert an additive to our CBD without full disclosure on the label. Sneaky is as sneaky does, and we aren’t sneaky!

* We put our CBD through TWO tests at TWO different labs, who have no affiliation with us other than asking them to honestly test our product.

As the CBD markets continue to change and improve, there will be more tests available to check for potency, purity, and the unwelcome addition of undisclosed additives. Thankfully, due to our proximity to many labs in Boston, we will be taking samples in for extra testing, and adding extra tests as more analysis becomes available.

Looking to the future for our Honest customers, New England area hemp farms are rapidly up and coming. We look forward to the day when we can witness Honest CBD traveling from point A (the farm) to destination (you). Imagine that! I will be thrilled to do that field trip and bring back masses of CBD to the seacoast!
